Circular suspended scaffolding for maintenance work at an amusement park. Specifically, the Huracán Cóndor ride at Port Aventura.

Project requirements

The client needed to develop a permanently installed mobile scaffold to carry out regular maintenance at a theme park, specifically for the free-fall drop tower Hurakan Condor, which stands over 100 metres tall, located in the iconic PortAventura theme park in Tarragona.

Full development of a bespoke circular suspended scaffold that can be parked at the top of the ride and used to traverse the ride's mast during routine maintenance tasks.

  • Location: Tarragona, Spain
  • Sector: Industry
  • Sub-sector: Industrial maintenance
  • Application: Theme parks

Solution

We have developed a complex circular suspended scaffold, with the hoists located at the top of the tower (rather than on the platform); an electrical control system that allows the platform to be moved with or without people and, all of this, retracted into a very small space at the crown of the Hurakan Condor ride while it is in use by the public.

This platform replaces previous equipment manufactured in 2004.

  • Height: 105 metres
  • Regulations: 2006/42/EC, EN 1808
