In Spain, the food and chemical industries have a significant weight in the economy. Notably, in the 2021-2022 period, the food and beverage industry exceeded 30 billion euros, accounting for 15.7% of the country's entire manufacturing industry.
With this industrial fabric, there are numerous chemical and food industries that share similar infrastructures in terms of production and storage, such as tanks, deposits, reactors, or silos. In short, confined spaces and complex and hazardous accesses that require investment in prevention.
At Accesus, we have been working on accesses for over 12 years for these types of industries worldwide, and we have carried out projects in companies in the chocolate, flour, beverage, chemical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Our way of working adapts to each situation: our "Technical Office" studies the needs of each case and implements an adequate solution.
The needs for risk protection are often repeated in these industries, and the structures we have to ensure them are:
- Complex accesses: certified EN795B anchor points, such as tripods or beams that can be motorized or manual for deep accesses or those that require suspension work. We have motorized chairs, motorized tripods, or versatile rescue arms with different configurations that adapt to spaces and supported loads.
- Rescue: systems that can be coupled to access systems to rescue in case of need. Additionally, in cases of great heights or hazardous spaces where we need a higher speed of ascent and descent, it is also possible to install an electric equipment.
- Special situations: often, the evaluation of the need makes a standard team insufficient. Accesus has extensive experience in manufacturing special equipment for personnel access, for example, for Atex environments, industries with Inox material, or highly corrosive environments.
Projects in the chemical industry
In Castilla y León, we carried out the implementation of an access to clean the conical deposits of the plant through a suspended cabin from a column plume. In this project, Accesus developed the manufacture, supply, assembly, testing, and training for the customer of the Basic Model cabin for two operators. In this case, the height of the combined platform was modified with a custom suspension system. Thanks to this system, it was possible to access the interior of the conical deposit and perform cleaning tasks in adequate safety conditions.
Projects in the food industry
At Accesus, we have worked on different solutions for silos. Here are some of our related projects:
- One of them was carried out to replace a very old system that did not comply with current regulations with a motorized AVAHO S system so that operators could access the interior of a silo in a chocolate manufacturing plant in a circular INOX cabin. This new system met current regulations and those specific to the food industry.
- We supplied, assembled, tested, and trained the customer for the handling of this equipment. The equipment was designed with an Atex control system.
- In addition to carrying out projects from conception to start-up, we also have extensive experience in training modules that allow the team to be autonomous and carry out maintenance tasks.
